OCR

Using OCR in banks has created a revolution of document digitization taking place at a high speed and large scale, reducing the load of a large amount of administrative work.

At Innotech Vietnam, OCR technology is integrated in the eKYC process. The instant capture feature built on OCR quickly captures and extracts information from the identity documents such as passport, national ID card, driving license and picks it up the system. The whole process from data extraction to form the population does not take more than 3 seconds making the process fully automated and accurate up to 99%.

Documents We Verify

For National ID Verification:

Innotech ID card verification

  • Check for accuracy of format as unique ID numbering, 2D barcode.

  • Match name, DOB, address.

  • Detect crumpled, folded edges

  • Check photoshopped, spoofed images.

  • Verify micro text, hologram, rainbow printing, guilloche pattern

  • Detect opacity, exposure

For Passport Verification:

  • Match name, DOB and expiry date with Machine Readable Zone.

  • Detect spurious through font, holograms, signatures.

  • Check for accuracy of format.

  • Detect crumpled, folded edges

  • Identify photoshopped, spoofed image

  • Verify hologram, rainbow printing.

  • Check opacity, exposure.

For Driver’s License Verification:

  • Checks for accuracy of format

  • Detects crumpled, folded edges

  • Checks photoshopped, forged cards.

  • Verifies hologram, rainbow printing, guilloche pattern.

Face matching

Face matching is a method of identifying or verifying the identity of an individual using their face. Face matching systems can be used to identify people in photos, video, or in real-time.

Its systems use computer algorithms to pick out specific, distinctive details about a person’s face. These details, such as distance between the eyes or shape of the chin, are then converted into a mathematical representation and compared to data on other faces collected in a face recognition database. The data about a particular face is often called a face template and is distinct from a photograph because it’s designed to only include certain details that can be used to distinguish one face from another.

Facial matching is a particularly useful biometric modality for digital on boarding and authentication:

  • Nearly all mobile devices have built-in cameras that support it.

  • The user experience of capturing a “selfie” (photo/video) is exceptionally intuitive and convenient.

  • Face recognition with 98% accuracy.

Liveness Detection

Liveness detection distinguishes live persons from presentation attacks such as photos, videos or masks. The scientific term is presentation attack detection, which refers to fraud prevention for biometrics in general, whereas liveness detection is specifically used for face recognition. The most applicable liveness detection algorithms are hardware independent and require only little user cooperation for optimal user experience.

At Innotech, it is easy to use and only requires selfie photos/ videos, captured through the user’s webcam or smartphone camera:

  • Live recorded photos/ videos, which are analysed to ensure liveness and prevent photo / video replay and other presentation attacks.

  • A photo of a national ID card, a passport or driver’s license, which is compared to the live photos (face match).

Fraud detection

Nowadays, Banks are under pressure to detect and prevent account related fraud losses at the point-of-sale without sacrificing customer service, loyalty, and retention. Assumed identity, where an individual illegally obtains personal information of another individual and opens accounts in his or her name, using partially legitimate information.

Therefore, Fraud detection is a set of activities undertaken to prevent money or property from being obtained through false pretences. The most effective place to stop fraud is at the starting point of a bank’s relationship with customers: during the onboarding process.  It’s the most crucial touchpoint for protecting the banks from fraud and for establishing a stellar customer experience.

E-Signature

An e-signature or electronic signature is a legal way to get consent or approval on electronic documents or forms. It can replace a handwritten signature in virtually any process.

Electronic signature lets banking and financial services firms process paperwork completely online and take their attention off paperwork and operational tasks. It helps to focus on identifying new opportunities and serving clients better. Electronic signature ensures paperwork is processed faster, letting clients sign documents from anywhere, anytime and on any device. It also speeds up transactions and ensures a smooth experience.

E-signatures become the bank’s competitive advantage for simple transactions such as opening a new bank account. They allow customers to do it comfortably from their computer or mobile phone at the branch, wherever they are, and without having to sign any paper documents. Bank accounts can be opened in minutes, instead of days. Using an e-signature allows clients to sign any type of documentation using a tablet as well as instantly receive a signed copy of a contract by email.
